Commitment to Protect the Earth, PT. Menthobi Hijau Lestari Launches Organic and Biological Fertilizer Products from Palm Oil Waste

NANGA BULIK, radarsampit.com – PT Menthobi Hijau Lestari (MHL), a subsidiary of PT Menthobi Karya Tama Raya Tbk (MKTR), has successfully processed palm oil mill waste into organic fertilizer, soon to be launched to boost crop productivity for farmers. Training and socialization about the organic and biological fertilizer have also been conducted for farmer groups in Lamandau Regency.

“This is part of our solution to process waste into valuable products, as a means of developing organic and biological fertilizer industries within the sustainable fertilization policy for plantations and agriculture,” said Sudono Slamet, a microbiology expert.

PT MHL was only established in 2022. It originated from concerns over the large volumes of waste from PT MML’s palm oil processing plant. The company was thus set up within PT MML’s plantation area to process and utilize the solid and liquid by-products/waste into both bulk and granular organic and biological fertilizers.

“After a long period of research, we are committed to producing high-quality organic fertilizers that meet standards. This is also part of our effort to improve degraded soil structure by nourishing the earth with more environmentally friendly organic fertilizers,” he explained. He added that with advanced processing machinery, they can produce 3-5 tons of fertilizer per hour, averaging 25 tons per day. The products include solid organic fertilizer in granular and bulk forms, solid biological fertilizer enriched with beneficial bacteria and decomposers, liquid organic fertilizer (POC), and liquid biological fertilizer (POHC).
